Yesterday, after seeing the poster for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming new film, The Master, we begged for a trailer. Not another clip-tease, but an actual trailer that hints at the movie’s narrative and better shows the film’s style and sprawl. And, BOOM, before the end of the day, it happened. Finally, after months of teasing and years – literally, YEARS – of waiting, we have a trailer for PTA’s new masterpiece. HERE is the link. Watch it. Then watch it again. We’ve already accounted for five or six of the 315 views the trailer has seen since going live on YouTube an hour or so ago. Our thoughts? It looks like a complex, funny, beautiful film. Beautiful being the key word. Shot by Mihai Malaimare, Jr. (Tetro, Twixt), the visuals are as brilliant as any we’ve seen since Terrence Malick’s ridiculously masterful The Tree of Life - our Film of the Year in 2011. Below you’ll find some stills we took from the trailer to drool over.
