Ty Segall Has Twins for Drag City

That’s right, little babies. One of ZeCatalist.com’s favorite current artists, San Franny* summer babe Ty Segall, has finally announced Twins, his proper solo follow-up to last year’s incredible Goodbye Bread (our review). Via an abstractly written press release, we learned very little: (1) The album will be out on Drag City Records in the U.S. on October 9; (2) Ty is touring an awful lot before the disc comes out**, and we have dates below; (3) The new record is supposedly a lot different than the billion other albums he’s released since graduating high school 10 minutes ago. Here’s a little nugget from the press release about that last point:

“Ty Segall is a new man, a different kind of man from his knuck-draggin’
earlier incarnations. It’s like the 2001: A Space Odyssey-monolith came
to visit him (on the set) one bright morning. And now he’s jetting toward
Jupiter, brooding, looking at man with x-ray eyes, yearning with a
superhuman heart for a love to come and stay.”

Sounds okay to us. While we do like this year’s Slaughterhouse and Hair (our review) records quite a bit***, neither of them – in the opinion of ZeCatalist – stack up to 2010′s Melted or 2011′s Goodbye Bread. Them two? Hot biscuits. Hopefully Twins will be the bomb shit. The year’s best record. Right? After Bread, well, we just kind of expect this much from Ty Segall solo records.
